Newest release of the EM7 Management System offers significantly enhanced bandwidth reporting, new Microsoft Exchange®, BlackBerry®, and content verification capabilities
ScienceLogic® LLC, whose revolutionary EM7™ System is deployed in networks throughout the government, military and commercial sectors, today announced the availability of the EM7 System Release 3.1. The most recent release of the EM7 System, a relational IT management system that integrates IT management, security and compliance systems, includes a number of new features: Microsoft Exchange® and BlackBerry® capabilities, content verification, enhanced bandwidth reporting, and ticketing. "As the network management market continues to evolve and grow, enterprises are focused on meeting emerging needs in the most efficient way possible," said Louis DiMeglio, VP Product Management at ScienceLogic. "Release 3.1 of the EM7 System, which is designed to dramatically improve the efficiency and accuracy of enterprise, network and IT workflow management processes, reflects changing market needs and offers significant enhancements that are both market and user driven."
BlackBerry. Microsoft Exchange and other Messaging Systems
ScienceLogic has added detailed statistics that permit comprehensive monitoring of Exchange and BlackBerry servers and enable IT managers to ensure that BlackBerry servers can deliver messages to handhelds at a rate within customer-set thresholds. If message delivery falls outside these thresholds, administrators are notified via the EM7 notification and escalation engine. The EM7 System also provides the ability to track and manage BlackBerry licenses and set alerts when a predetermined number of licenses remain. On Exchange servers, the EM7 System can performance trend and proactively create events on 100 different Exchange & Active Directory application attributes as well as event against the contents of any Exchange Application Log file. As an example, Exchange administrators can be notified automatically when the outbound message queue exceeds 50 messages or view the number of messages being sent or received, providing insightful capacity planning information. ScienceLogic also has added a round-trip-mail test application within EM7. The application automatically will send messages through the mail system, noting the number and latency of the mail hops that are required to complete a round-trip-mail test. This information is graphically presented, so mail administrators are notified when a problem is encountered and can quickly decipher where the latency exists within the messaging infrastructure.
Windows Services Automatic Restarts
The EM7 System now has a management console where centralized service management policies are activated. This feature allows a customer, after creating a policy, to automatically restart a service that has stopped running. The policy will provide notification when the desired state changes, then will automatically change the services to the desired condition and notify Exchange administrators that the Windows service is working correctly. In addition, you can use the EM7 management console to automatically kick off scripts on Windows servers to perform clean restarts if certain application software requires that several services also be restarted before properly resuming. "The benefit to our customers is immense, given the cost-effective pricing of the EM7 System and the efficiency of the EM7 policy management capabilities." said DiMeglio.
Content Verification
With Release 3.1 of the EM7 System, users can perform content web verification through proxies, load balancers and for authenticated web sites. It is now possible to monitor what the content verification monitor sees and verify that the proper content is there and always available. Users can customize the content policies and establish multiple URL monitor policies for a single machine. The EM7 System automatically creates five different performance graphs and event policies for each monitored URL, including availability of the web page to respond within a certain time threshold, page size, download speed, name look-up time, connection time and transaction time. "Our customers benefit from a comprehensive tool that can even validate web site performance through load balancing devices and perform content verification policies against each individual server behind the load balancer." said DiMeglio.
Bandwidth Enhancements
The bandwidth enhancements introduced in Release 3.1 provide expanded options for monitoring ports on a switch or router. Bandwidth reports now can display in kiosk mode with real-time updates and the ability to change dates. Other new capabilities include the following:
The EM7 System is the world's first solution in the new category of Relational Infrastructure Management (RIM). RIM is a class of products employing technology that integrates disparate infrastructure and application management systems with business processes, via a shared interface and common data repository. RIM products simplify compliance and corporate governance activities, improve data consistency, and increase user efficiency.
